Seatbelts for pets have been launched in the USA after 47,000 domestic animals were killed in accidents last year.The safety aids are set to become mandatory. Speed camera clocks 85mph tractor
Speed camera bosses have apologised to a farmer after they tried to fine him for doing 85mph in a tractor. Steve Crossman, who farms in Wiltshire, was puzzled when he received a ticket saying he had been snapped by a camera in Wales. Mr Crossman told BBC Wales: "It's a good tractor, but not that good. It can just about get up to 26mph, but that's downhill, with a following wind and with no trailer on the back. There's no way it could get close to 85mph." read more Record Rolls tracked down Vehicle security expert Tracker is celebrating the biggest recovery in its history - a £270,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom that was stolen from outside the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane, London. The vehicle's built-in homing device alerted police, and the car was recovered before it had barely travelled seven miles. Since 1993, Tracker has helped forces across the country trace 14,000 stolen cars worth around £295million in total. Driving test examiners give digital pens green light The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is trialing digital pen technology which is saving time for test examiners and getting licenses issued faster. The digital pen technology has already been tested at a driving test centre in Glasgow, and the agency is now planning for a more extensive trial at a number of centres this year (2006) , said DSA Operations Director Brian Gilhooley. read more |
