Driving Tip of the Month Dealing with a Busy Road When learning to drive, you must be able to move off safely and smoothly without creating a dangerous situation for other road users. Anticipate the actions of other road users including pedestrians and cyclists. In busy situations, try and anticipate the traffic early, so you can ease off on the accelerator in good time.

Young drivers will be banned from driving at night or taking passengers under radical planss being drawn up by the insurance industry Norwich Union announced earlier this week that it is to put up the cost of its car insurance by an average of 16 per cent, with the charges for young male drivers rising by up to 40 per cent.

Up To 4,000 Driving Tests Cancelled.
On Monday 4th September, support for the one day strike involving driving examiners and administrative staff working for the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) remained solid, leading to the cancellation of up to 4,000 driving tests, the Public and Commercial Services union said. Blind man was 'dangerous driver'

We thought we had heard it all. But now a blind man has been convicted of dangerous driving. A blind man, who lost his eyes in a bomb blast, has been convicted of dangerous driving after police spotted his car on the wrong side of the road. Omed Aziz, 31, was being aided as he drove through Oldbury, West Midlands, by an allegedly banned driver in the passenger seat. More 'Quiet' tyres to get tax breaks Drivers could soon slash the price of their car tax if they agree to fit new 'quiet' tyres Motorists opting for low-noise rubber would automatically be dropped down one vehicle excise duty band, if recommendations wheeled out by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) get the go-ahead. The discounts would be similar to those offered to drivers of low-emissions vehicles - and owners could also be exempt from congestion charging. The recommendations were based on the TRL's recent Government-funded research into the impact of noise pollution. More Thieves target Sat-Nav Motorists are losing out in more ways than one by having their satellite navigation systems stolen as their insurance policy often refuses to cover such high cost items. The hi-tech devices are top of the car thief's list of target car items as they are easy to snatch and conceal as they make their getaway. All too often, drivers are being told by their insurance companies that only £100 can be claimed for such expensive items, despite most of the systems on the market costing at least double this amount.
