New traffic sign to warn of hedgehogs
Thurs, 20th June, 2019
New traffic sign to warn of hedgehogs
A new road sign featuring a hedgehog will be introduced to roads across the UK to warn drivers of the potential hazards caused by small mammals.

They will be placed in areas with high accident rates and large numbers of small animals, which include, otters, squirrels and badges.
Between 2005 and 2017 figures show that 100 people were killed and a further 14,173 injured in accidents involving an animal (not including horses)
The Department of Transport said the new road signs were also designed to reverse the decline in wildlife, particularly amoung hedgehogs whose numbers in rural areas have halved since 2000.
